Better late than never..

FYI: This post is quite outdated. Well, very, actually.

Designed by local hipster/fashion photographer/blogger Aetienne (aka Lenne Chai), this sold out black blazer has something I once thought of; PVC details. It all started with those see-through clutches.. I actually got a PVC bracelet at a sale Parco held to raise funds for the earthquake victims in Japan a year or two ago? But I never wear it out cuz #1 it's uncomfortable when I sweat #2 I don't really know what other accessories I should pair with it, and I never really put a second thought to it since
I've hardly have time or bothered to wear accessories for the past few years.. But now that I've bought three new watches (I bought two from Bijoux Terner at USD10 each onboard my cruise, before buying my Citizen Regent as it wasn't on sale yet), I figured I should make an effort and start accessorizing more often.

Anyway, before I deviate from the subject of this post any further, I bring to your attention, the Black Blazer with PVC Accents by Aetienne x Phyle. They've made two other pieces in three different colors as well, but this blazer really stood out to me.. I don't think I've seen this anywhere else locally, really. Bad news is that, the black one is OOS, however it is still available in prettier colors like mint and pink, so hurray for you if #1 you can wear synthetic materials #2 they still have your size. Hurry, the pieces are limited, and for SGD59.90 I think they're quite worth their price tag.

Finally, a dress watch!

Introducing, the Regent in gold by Citizen Eco-Drive. It's currently retailing at USD495, but I got it at 40% off at USD297 on sale while I was on a Royal Caribbean cruise to Phuket the past week. I got mainly because it was such a good deal, but also because I figured I might as well reward myself for finally finishing my diploma (at long last)!! I wish I could say I also got a full-time job but no, not yet.

Anyway, I've always wanted a gold dress watch, although I previously had my heart set on one with a black dial w/o any form of bling (diamonds, etc.). I made an exception for the Regent though, and even though it's a little more lady-like than I'm used though, I don't regret my decision.

5 years international warranty, Japanese movement, sapphire crystal glass, and of course, not to mention, it's gorgeous (to me at least).. I love it, and I can't stop fiddling with it and admiring it. Looks like I won't be getting the Guess x Tiesto watch (mentioned in my previous post) anymore!

15 December 2012

Collaboration galore!

I don't quite know why, but lately I've had a penchant for limited edition items like the Fiji x Carrie K bracelet featured in my previous post.

Below are a couple of items that I've my eye on at the moment, but am having second thoughts about:

Underground x Nylon Creepers @ SGD245
The first thing I thought when I saw this was 'PADDLEPOP'. And every Singaporean, especially when you're a kid (or a kid at heart, whichever), LOVES. PADDLEPOP.
Two things stopping me from buying them:
#1 I'm not sure if they're comfortable, especially since I've wide and flat feet.
I was actually considering dropping by Actually+ to try them on, until I found out that..
#2 They're made of suede; I can barely keep up with maintaining my leather shoes, so I'm not gonna trouble myself further by getting shoes made of SUEDE.

Guess x Tiesto Watch @ SGD238 (if I'm not wrong)
I've never been a fan of Guess watches, but something about this watch makes me want to wear it. It could be the gunmetal (I'm a sucker for gunmetal), it could be the fancy black/blue box it comes in, what I like about it the most though, is that, despite it being a men's watch, it fits my wrist nicely. I already have a watch that functions perfectly fine so far, so I'm not sure if I should splurge on something unneccesary when I could be buying other things, like on this coming Wednesday cuz BITNB is having 75% off (hint: join their mailing list ASAP)!

FIJI Water Courage Harness

Ever since a friend of mine bought a Bottega Veneta woven leather bracelet a few months back, I've been on the look-out for similar but nicer and of course, more affordable alternatives. And although I chided my friend when he was on the verge of getting his BV bracelet in boring ol' black instead of brown, I've found myself wanting the FIJI Water Courage Harness by Carrie K, especially after I saw the photo below.

I first saw it when one of my fave TLC TV hosts Anita Kapoor posted a photo of it on her Instagram. On her shows, her wardrobe always seems to be.. National Geographic with a little dash of British India, I feel. Was surprised to see a stunning photo of her looking polished in a blazer, with wing-tipped eyeliner and coiffed, bunned-up hair.. Never knew she was that fashionable or glamorous. Interestingly enough she still seems very down-to-earth, which makes her even more likable.

Anyway, back to the topic. Not only is the Fiji bracelet for a good cause (it was made in support of the Singapore Breast Cancer Foundation), it is also a limited edition piece. If I'm not wrong, only 120 pieces were made, plus it's by a local designer, which makes it all the more special and unique. It's already sold out, but well, it's not like I've an extra USD115.00 to splash on it anyway. I think it's safe to say however, that we can expect better things from Carrie K. in the years to come, and hopefully by then, I should have enough to spoil myself a little every now and then.

Skater skirts!

They're my daily go-to piece and I wear them with boots to work at least 75% of the time, reason being #1 it's usually too hot to wear jeans #2 pencil & a-line skirts don't really do my height & bum any favors.

Recently I got the American Apparel Chambray Skater Skirt in blue from Asos.com for SGD23. I actually got it in black in Shanghai last year, and since I wear it so often, I figured I might as well get it in another color.

I've been trying to find more cotton skirts and I've to admit, I can't help but be more partial to skater skirts.. Below are a couple that I would love to own, if they weren't made of some synthetic material, but oh well.

Yum.

I haven't had much time, or anything in specific, for that matter, to blog about the past few weeks, so here's the Yves Saint Laurent Cabas Chyc in a delicious forest green. I've always eyed the YSL bags with the iconic 'Y' on the front, and the color only makes it more desirable to me (I tend to favor an earthy palette).

Someday?

Romeo + Juliet

Inspired by one of my fave movies of all time, I can't help but love both tees despite how simple they are!

After looking at the other Wildfox pieces in their Fall 2012 collection, I'm craving some form of Catholic iconography in my wardrobe even more (a good example would be this dress)..

Both tees above can be bought at Asos.com.

Something you don't see everyday..

Mex Tex Print With Airtex-Insert Shirt by ASOS
RRP SGD66

I saw this about two days ago and wasn't too sure if I should get, since it's a little more than what I usually pay for tops (SGD26 after 40% +/- off).. Sadly my size is already OOS, so oh well.. Lose some, win some.

I was catching up on my blog-reading..

When I found an online vintage store through B. Jones Style in California: Salvage Life. For some reason, the first thing that caught my eye was the "Bridal" section, and there I found something similar to what I've concluded in my head to be the perfect wedding dress (for me).. If I were to get mine custom made, it'd be in white cotton eyelet (just like the one below!), maybe with a bit of lace detail, maybe around the skirt or bodice, and with 3/4-sleeves and either a v-neck or boat-necked collar..

About a few months ago, I had this idea that white was too.. well, not mainstream, but common, and I thought gray would be a nice alternative. Seeing this changed my mind (IDK what I was thinking!), especially since white's the easiest color to dye (I plan to dye it into a less high-maintenance color so I can wear it with ease in the future and not just once for the wedding)..

Then again, I won't be getting married anytime soon, so this is just another one of those silly, whimsical blog posts. You can't deny the dress pictured below is pretty though!

Totoro Watch by Seiko

Tempted to get this online (since I don't know of any stores locally that sell this), but I'm not sure.. First of all, I already have a watch, which is already kiddy-looking, plus I can change the strap to two other colors so I can't say I'm bored of it.. Secondly, I'm not if I can trust those online stores, plus there's the warranty issue; will I even get a valid one? Thirdly, I don't quite have the budget to get something that I don't need, so I guess this one will be on the list for awhile..

23 September 2012

Hee hee.

Just a little something I wanted to share..

You can get it on a shirt courtesy of Threadless here.

18 September 2012

Quick snippet:

I saw that Uniqlo was letting go of their Tell a Tale fafa shorts at $9.90 instead of $16.90 each, so I grabbed them at their Bugis+ store last weekend. Glad I got them; they're so comfy! Cutting's a bit strange, but it's okay, I'll only be wearing it at home.

Ugh, why Asos, why.

And just when you became one of my fave shopping sites.. I can understand if my item arrives late, after all, you can't control everything, can you? But telling me the skirt is 100% cotton, and then it turns out that it's made of viscose, nylon and polyester? That's grossly incorrect, and I'm very disappointed now. How difficult is it to read the tag, and type the exact same information you see?

I guess everyone makes mistakes at work, but really, I could've done without this inconvenience.. I just hope they own up to their mistake and offer me a fuss-free refund.

*Edit: Got a response in less than a day, and it turns out, I will be getting refund, which is all good and all, but still at my inconvenience (paperwork, bla bla bla). Oh well. Lesson learnt: if it doesn't look cotton, it's probably too good to be true. ):

31 August 2012

Honestly? I'm feeling pretty smug now..

Cuz I just scored an online bargain! I just spent approx. SGD35 on three tees (two for me and one for my SO) from Threadless, and I can say it was super worth it because:
#1 I've had Threadless tees since I was 16 and they've lasted me for at least 5 years!
#2 They're super comfy and pretty unique since not everyone in Singapore will have what you have
#3 They were on sale; two were slashed by 50% from USD20 to USD10, while one was slashed to USD13 from USD24!

However, I do have to mention that the original price was  USD41.97, as you can see above. The amount I paid to Threadless though? Just a mere USD11.97 (circled in red)! This is all thanks to Groupon since I got their SGD19.90 for USD30 worth of Threadless stuff (boxed in green)! So in total, like I mentioned at the start of this post, I spent just SGD35+/-.

So yup, I'm pretty pleased that I got good quality cotton tees for a little more than what people usually pay at Bugis Street (the cheapest place I know to shop at)! I guess I could say I got prettyy lucky, especially since I chanced upon the Groupon deal on a Facebook ad if I remember correctly.. which is a little strange cuz I subscribe to Groupon yet I somehow managed to miss it. Oh well.

24 August 2012

I may be an animal lover..

But as much as I hate to say it, I love leather. I tried to stay away from it during my late teen years, but it only made me realize why leather's better than pleather.. I just love the luscious, "more-natural" feel of it, and I figured, since I love eating beef, why let the rest of it go to waste? Fur's a different matter altogether though, do you know anyone who eats mink or chinchilla? Besides it's so unnecessary, what with wool and more humane options.. but that's a different story, and I shan't go on and on about it here.

Anyway, I've never been a fan of Braun Buffel until recently; I've always admired that they've been able to sell quality leather products at affordable prices, plus their stylish men's designs too..Their bags for ladies back then however were just too.. "auntie". They've improved since then, especially since I got their Bleu 3 Fold Long Wallet in dark bronze for my 21st birthday last year. I can't remember how much I spent on it, maybe close to SGD200? It's holding up pretty well so far though, so I'm not worried or regretting my decision.

Now this bit is a slightly outdated, since I saw the Brill Doctor's Bag pictured below last month when I was shopping with the parents at Robinsons, and I would've gotten it, if I didn't have more than enough bags.. I just love the shape (so sturdy-looking!), and being a fan of One Piece, I would've loved being able to have a bag similar to Chopper's. Ah well. One day when I've finally used 75% of my bags to their limit, I hope there'll be a similar-looking one waiting for me.

21 August 2012

You'd think Asos would be paying me..

But nope, not a single cent. Nobody would ever pay me to advertise on this "blog", lest to say write an advertorial. It's the stupid free international shipping that keeps me checking Asos, as soon as I run out of things to do online.

I'm still undecided on the River Island lace skirt pictured below; I'm a little apprehensive about the length cuz it looks a little too short for my liking.. I've been trying to stock up more on midi skirts since I'm not having much luck in with finding 100% cotton maxi skirts/dresses. I feel comfier with coverage; I need anything that can put my thunder-thighs out of sight. Anything pretty and made of cotton, that is.

*Update: I ended up getting the last piece in my size for SGD18.58! Call me a sucker if you want, but I'm glad I decided to wait.. The extra 10% made it all the better!

19 August 2012

Frustrated Rant, INCOMING!

I just found out that the purple organic cotton AA dress I got recently from Asos is now being sold for a measly sum of $19.56, with of course, free shipping! Arggghh! I feel cheated now, and the fact that if only I had waited, I would've scored a better deal, just peeves me to no end. $10 may seem a small sum, but if it can buy me a meal, I don't see why I should waste it.. I've to admit, I was scared that they'd run out of stock.. little did I know that they're trying super hard to clear it!

Oh well. I guess this is a lesson learnt: buying on Asos is like bidding in a Dutch auction; you need a bit of patience and a lot of luck. For those who are unfamiliar with what a Dutch auction is like, it's basically waiting for the price of an item to go as low as possible before you grab it. The waiting, the anticipation, damn it's intense.

..Now I'm asking myself if I should buy the exact same dress to stock up since #1 it's super comfy #2 the color's cute and pretty unique #3 organic cotton hardly ever comes this cheap! The only thing that's stopping me, is that I'll need to wear a strapless bra when I wear it, and I'm not sure if I want to do that more often than necessary.

11 August 2012

It's so hot here..

And I'm sick of tying up my hair with these thin, tiny one-time-use rubberbands I bought from Guardian. I chanced upon these Twistband Hair Ties, but frankly speaking, I find them a little overpriced, so I Googled 'best hair ties' to see what other options were out there and I found this for USD8.00 at Sephora.. I hope they have it, but I kinda have a feeling that they won't. Oh well, fingers crossed.

*Update: True enough, I've checked with Sephora Singapore and Malaysia on Facebook, and have found out that they do not stock them. Guess I'm gonna have to get the Twistband ones from Bellabox after all.. ):

08 August 2012

Since I've $100 to spend at the Clarks boutique in MBS..

I figured I might as well pick out 3 shoes to try from the Clarks Singapore website, to limit the time I'll be spending at the boutique since I'll be there sometime this month for the Harry Potter Exhibition, so here's my fave one!

*Update: Saw this at Takashimaya yesterday; it costs only SGD163, which means I'll only have to pay $63 for them! Might not be getting it though; it comes in wide-fit, however the heel is smaller than I thought it'd be, so I might be getting a pair of flats (hopefully loafers!).. However, I obviously wouldn't know for sure 'til I try them on at MBS.

06 August 2012

Yet another item that's out of my budget..

Thistlepearl Victorian Lace Cotton Dress @ USD79.00 USD39.99

It's oh so pretty though.. and I'm oh so tempted especially since it's cotton, plus lotsa blogshops are doing sprees for this particular site.. Ah well, I guess I'd better at least get a job first before I even consider getting it.

04 August 2012

Free int'l shipping has got me hooked..

Firstly, I just have to say: I love, love, love almost anything pussybow. There's strangely something about it that's feminine yet not too girly at the same time, despite the large bow.. Well, IMO anyway. I also love denim; it's a wardrobe staple, I've been wearing them since I was a teen, and I don't think I can ever do without it.

I've been browsing Asos almost everyday, I'm not exactly sure why but I think it's safe to assume that at least 60% of women out there with access to Internet 24/7 do the same. It's kind of a hobby, I guess, like how window-shopping is.. Anyway, imagine how I felt when I saw this.

I would've honestly bought it in a heartbeat, if not for two important factors #1 The high collar wouldn't suit me #2 It's out of my budget (I need to be realistic).

Etsy Finds

I've been browsing through Etsy since 4am, and there have only been three keywords that I've in mind (in addition to cotton, of course): Mexican, Hawaiian & Nightie.. I've been watching That 70s Show re-runs, and I've to admit, I'm a teeny bit inspired by Jackie. Below is a mix of things I favorited (most of which are below USD30, excl. shipping); photos are all linked!

Quickie!

Here's a little something that caught my eye while looking through my inbox:
The Totem Manial Dress by new Singaporean label Mash-Up for SGD89.00 at Clout Shoppe. If I'm not wrong, you can visit their physical store at Parco Next next, or visit their online store that ships overseas (to Australia & most of Asia ATM)!

Wish it were in 100% cotton.. Love the design though!

31 July 2012

Super outdated post!

I've realized that even though I never blogged about the dress above, I had wanted something from the Uniqlo x Laura Ashley collab.. Lucky for me my parents got it for me a couple of months or so ago while I was out with them at 313 Somerset. I also got a sleeveless denim dress on sale (pictured below); the one I got however is in a darker shade. It was a little pricier than I'm used to, think it cost almost SGD40, but it's made of a cotton/tencel blend! I found out recently that tencel is one of the few synthetic fabrics that is actually recommended for sensitive skin, and is still quite uncommon in the market. I hope to see Uniqlo using this material more often!

Anyway both are super comfy; the floral one can be a little short (I think it's meant to be a tunic for taller girls), plus it can look a bit like PJs, while the denim one gets wrinkled easily cuz of the fabric, but I like them anyway, especially with a red belt.

At the moment I've my eyes on the linen dress; planning to go see if it's on sale later since I'll be at VivoCity. If it's not, I may get it anyway.. as long as it suits me!

29 July 2012

I've been thinking..

..maybe it's time for me to branch out into other topics, blogging-wise.. like maybe food? I am always thinking about the places I wanna try out, dishes I'm craving, etc. I am aware that this particular blog URL has 'wardrobe' in it, and I sure as hell don't keep food in my wardrobe, or know anybody who does, for that matter.

So right now, I'm debating between #1 changing my current blog URL and #2 making a new blog focused on food reviews, etc. ATM I'm not exactly sure which would be better.. I feel that if I choose #1, I might as well make this blog sort-of personal and just blog about anything I want, which would kind of make it my journal, and well, I already have one.. a private one, which would kind of make #1 redundant. So yeah, something to mull over during the weekend.

27 July 2012

With just SGD53.10..

I can buy myself a couple of pretty things on sale from Asos! The purple dress above is from American Apparel (organic cotton, my fave!), while the skirt below (100% cotton too, yay) is from the Asos petite collection! I wish I could've gotten something from People Tree, but sadly #1 the prices were too high #2 the variety isn't as wide as their official webstore.. I would've bought directly from them, especially since they're having a sale of up to 75% off! If only they did international shipping (aaah my heart is just breaking, thinking about all the pretty dresses I could've bought..).

Nevertheless, I'm feeling pretty gleeful right now, despite having read horror stories in the past about packages getting lost in the mail, specifically those from Asos.. but, it's a risk I'm willing to take! How could I resist such a steal?!

I've decided to forgo the accessories I featured in my previous post, since I already have a bunch of accessories that I haven't been wearing because.. um, I always.. forget. Anyway, I am however, planning to buy a few more pieces more before the month is even over, as soon as I get my second paycheck.. It all depends on whether I can fit into those coral Levi's (pictured above) though! Gonna be popping into a Levis' store ASAP to see if I can fit into their UK 14 Demi/Bold Curve.. And if I can't, oh well, too bad.

According to my partner, a pair of "limited edition" jeans (I was told so, by a Levis' staff) priced at SGD73.69 isn't a steal anyway.. My.. "intuition" (or heart, can't tell) tells me otherwise though.

UPDATE: My parcel from Asos arrived 3 days earlier than I expected: the purple organic cotton dress by AA fits perfect and is oh-so-comfy (fabric's a little thicker than I expected for a "summer dress", but it's no biggie). As for the skirt by Asos, the quality could be a lot better (think "blogshop" material), but for the price I got it at, I really should've known better, so oh well. At least there were no defects or worse, a lost parcel!

26 July 2012

Mogwais!

Since I've been trying to focus more on finding basic pieces and things that have something I like am crazy about printed on them, I've been random googling things that I like on eBay out of curiousity, and these are what I've found:

12 July 2012

Sale time again!

It's a little late to say this, but once again, just like it has been for the past 20 or so years (I think?), it's GSS time! What's even better is that even overseas, Asos is having a sale too! This only means one thing to me: that I can have stuff that not everyone in Singapore will have! Which is good enough reason to spend my hard-earned money, if you ask me (especially if it's heavily discounted). Only if I like it though, of course. And since I haven't been blogging much these past few months, here's a list of the items I've my eye on (photos only).

Also, I've decided to start tagging my posts again. I haven't figured out an exact, systematic way of doing so yet, but I must and shall try my best to stay organized! It is essential.
